Hope IS My Leadership Strategy

I have heard it said that “hope is not a strategy” and I disagree. Let’s first look at what hope actually is:

Definition of ‘hope’: the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best

Why would you do anything—start or lead a company, sell a product, or manage a team—that you don’t first start with the feeling that what is wanted can be had? Before you can lead, you must first have hope in something.

It is hope—a firm feeling that what is wanted can be had—that people will feel. A leader without hope is a leader not worth following. If we don’t believe, why should they?
