Leaders are still readers.
“Only read that which pertains to your mission in life.” Advice a mentor gave me when I was very young. I have read only two types of books since.
It isn’t about the eyes on pages (although if you can, you should). It is about isolation, contemplation, reflection, focus and considering the tension between opposing ideas.
Leaders who neglect contemplation are weaker leaders. Weak leaders don’t inspire us to move out of our comfort zones to a new and better place.
As leaders read, contemplate and reflect, their ideas become convictions. Their convictions become our motivation to follow.
Go deep… but only on that which pertains to your mission in life.
