Meetings really do matter.
Meetings are a microcosm of the health of your organization. The disciplines required to make an organization healthy show up most clearly in team meetings.
- Do your team meetings demonstrate your team is cohesive?
- Do your team meetings demonstrate your team is clear?
- Do your team meetings demonstrate your team is committed to over-communicate?
- Do your team meetings reinforce who you say you are and what you say is important?
Ask yourself what your team meetings say about your team. The way a football team becomes a great team is by playing football together. The way a soccer team becomes a great team is by playing soccer together. The way a runner becomes a great runner is by running. I know i am stating the obvious here, but this isn’t complicated stuff. The way a leadership team becomes a great team is by having great meetings.
If that sounds boring, that says more about you than the meetings. Can you imagine a football team loving everything about football except playing the game? Leadership teams meet and make decisions–that is our game. How you play your game is really all that matters.
